The agent can select from the tools attached to it during a run, rather than treating every action as a fixed step in the main workflow path. Only tools you add to the canvas and connect to the agent are available to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Screenshot to add: AI Agent node showing the connected Tool attachment on the workflow canvas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Connect tools to an AI Agent<\/h2>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Add an <strong>AI Agent<\/strong> node to the workflow.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Use the agent&#8217;s connector controls to add a <strong>Tool<\/strong> attachment.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Choose and configure the supported action you want to make available to the agent.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Provide the required connection, fields, and input mappings for that action.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Connect a chat model to the AI Agent, then test the agent with a task that should use the tool.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Review the run output to confirm whether the tool was selected and how its result affected the agent response.<\/li>\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep tool access narrow<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agent can use only the tools attached to its node and supported by the current workflow implementation. Do not assume that it can call any PHP function or arbitrary WordPress method.
