You can configure an OpenAI API key directly in TranslateSense, or manage credentials through a compatible WordPress AI Connector when one is detected and installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before you begin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install and activate TranslateSense and Polylang.<\/li>\n<li>Have an OpenAI account and API key available if you will use direct API configuration. You can obtain a key from <a href=\"https:\/\/platform.openai.com\/api-keys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OpenAI API keys<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If a WordPress AI Connector for OpenAI is detected, confirm that its provider plugin is active and its credentials are configured in WordPress Connectors instead of entering the key in TranslateSense.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Configure OpenAI<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open <strong>Languages \u2192 TranslateSense<\/strong>. If Polylang is not active, the settings page is registered under <strong>Settings \u2192 TranslateSense<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>AI Translation Engines &amp; Models<\/strong>, enable <strong>OpenAI (ChatGPT)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If the WordPress AI Connector interface is not being used, enter the key in <strong>OpenAI API Key<\/strong>. Use the <strong>Get Key<\/strong> link if you need to create a key.<\/li>\n<li>When the provider is connected, choose an available model from <strong>Translation Model<\/strong>. The available options can depend on the provider configuration.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>OpenAI (ChatGPT)<\/strong> in <strong>Default Engine<\/strong> if you want OpenAI to be the default provider.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Save Settings<\/strong>. You can also press <strong>Ctrl + S<\/strong> while the settings form is active.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If WordPress AI Connector is shown<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a compatible OpenAI connector is detected, TranslateSense displays connector status and a link to manage it in WordPress Connectors. Use that interface to activate the provider or configure its credentials. If the connector is installed and selected for the request but is not connected or active, the translation can return an error; do not assume the plugin will silently retry through the direct API.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Verify the setup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Return to the settings screen and confirm the provider status and model list. Then use a small, non-sensitive translation in the relevant TranslateSense workflow. If the request fails, check the API key or connector status, model availability, and your OpenAI account&#8217;s quota or rate limits.
