Verify Provider Configuration

Confirm provider credentials and configuration are ready for translation.

Use this checklist to confirm that TranslateSense has a usable translation provider configured. The provider status in the dashboard reflects detected credentials or WordPress AI Connector information; it is not a substitute for testing a translation request.

Check provider configuration

  1. Open Languages → TranslateSense when Polylang is active.
  2. In AI Translation Engines & Models, confirm that at least one provider is enabled.
  3. Review Default Engine and confirm that it names the provider you intend to use by default.
  4. For OpenAI or Google Gemini direct API configuration, confirm that the relevant API key field is populated. Do not share the key when requesting help.
  5. If a WordPress AI Connector is shown, follow its status and use the provided link to manage the connector in WordPress Connectors. Check both activation and connection state.
  6. For cloud providers, confirm that the expected Translation Model list is available.
  7. Select Save Settings after changing configuration.

Run a small verification translation

Use a short, non-sensitive piece of content in the normal TranslateSense translation workflow. Confirm that a result is returned and review the output before translating larger batches. This is a recommended manual check; it is not performed automatically by the provider status indicator.

Interpret common provider states

  • API Key Needed: enter a valid key for direct API configuration, or complete the WordPress AI Connector setup if that route is displayed.
  • Activate Provider: activate the detected provider connector in WordPress Connectors.
  • WP Connector Active: the connector is detected as active and connected; a real translation request can still fail because of provider-side errors or limits.
  • Model list unavailable: recheck provider credentials, connection status, and provider model availability.
  • Request rejected or rate-limited: review the provider response and account quota or rate limits. Do not expose credentials in error reports.
