For cloud translation, TranslateSense sends selected text or strings to the configured OpenAI or Google Gemini service. The plugin readme identifies the translation strings as the content shared with these providers. Translation requests also need the applicable prompt or translation instructions and provider/model parameters to perform the requested operation.
What to consider before translating
- Review the text that will be translated and avoid including passwords, API keys, private tokens, or unnecessary personal information.
- Review the provider’s current terms and privacy information for your account and use case.
- Consider your site’s privacy notice and any obligations that apply before sending site content to an external service.
- Keep in mind that translation content may include text from page-builder content or strings selected by the translation workflow.
Cloud provider data sharing
The plugin readme documents OpenAI and Google Gemini as external services and states that selected translation text or strings are sent to the chosen service. See the external services guide for service endpoints and provider policy links. Check the provider’s current policies directly because their terms and data practices may change.
Browser-based on-device translation
TranslateSense also includes a browser-based Chrome Built-in AI provider that uses supported on-device translation APIs in Chrome and Microsoft Edge. This path is designed to process translation in the browser rather than sending the selected strings through TranslateSense’s OpenAI or Gemini direct API integration. Protect credentials
Never include API keys in screenshots, examples, public support tickets, or documentation. When using WordPress AI Connectors, review the credential and connection settings managed through WordPress Connectors.
