TranslateSense supports translation through OpenAI, Google Gemini, WordPress AI Connectors when compatible connectors are installed and configured, and browser-based on-device translation through supported Chrome and Edge APIs. Use these guides to configure a provider, choose an available model, check provider status, and understand which content is sent to an external service.
Configure a provider
When Polylang is active, open Languages → TranslateSense. The settings page is registered under Settings → TranslateSense if Polylang is not active, although Polylang is required for the plugin’s multilingual workflow.
- Connect OpenAI to configure an OpenAI API key or manage an available WordPress AI Connector.
- Connect Google Gemini to configure Gemini credentials or manage an available connector.
- Choose a Translation Model from the options provided by the configured provider.
- Verify Provider Configuration, including connection and model availability.
- Use Built-in AI Translation for supported on-device browser translation without an OpenAI or Gemini API key.
Review data sharing and external services
- Understand Translation Data Sharing before sending content to a cloud provider.
- Review External Translation Services to identify the external API or connector involved in a translation workflow.
Save your configuration
After changing the default engine, enabled providers, API credentials, model, or other settings, select Save Settings. The settings form also supports Ctrl + S. A successful save does not by itself prove that a provider can complete a translation; check the provider status and then verify the setup with a small, non-sensitive translation workflow.
