If a visitor submits a form but you cannot find the entry in WordPress, check the form’s submission actions first. Smart Form Builder includes a Save Entry action, and its Save Entry to Database control determines whether that action stores the submission.
1. Check the Save Entry action
- Open Smart Forms → Forms and edit the form that was submitted.
- Review the form’s submission actions and confirm that Save Entry is included.
- Open that action’s settings and make sure Save Entry to Database is enabled. This control defaults to enabled, but the saved form configuration may have been changed.
- Save the form after making a change, then submit a fresh test entry. Changing the action does not recreate submissions that were never stored.
2. Check the Entries screen
Open Smart Forms → Entries and look for the new test submission. Make sure you are checking the correct form and that you are looking for the test submitted after saving the action settings. For the entry review workflow, see Review Form Entries.
3. If the new entry is still missing
- Reopen the form and confirm the action settings were saved on the form you actually embedded or published.
- Submit a simple test with valid field values to check whether the issue is specific to one form or submission path.
- Check Smart Forms → Error Log for a related recorded error. If the log does not explain the problem, ask your site administrator to review the PHP error log around the test time.
- If an entry appears but its notification email does not arrive, use Why are form submissions not sending email? to troubleshoot email delivery separately.
Before contacting support
Record the form name, the time of the test, whether Save Entry was present, and whether Save Entry to Database was enabled. Do not share private submission contents, passwords, API keys, or other sensitive visitor information.
