Configure Honeypot Protection

Enable the form’s hidden honeypot check and understand how Smart Form Builder rejects submissions that fill the trap field.

Honeypot protection adds a hidden field intended to catch automated submissions without asking normal visitors to solve a challenge. In Smart Form Builder by Dragwyb 1.3.6, the check rejects a submission when the hidden field named by the plugin, dragwyb_h_email, contains a value.

Enable honeypot protection

  1. Open Smart Form Builder and edit the form you want to protect.
  2. Open the form’s Advance settings.
  3. Find the Security & Privacy section.
  4. Enable Enable Honeypot (Anti-Spam).
  5. Save the form and publish or update the page containing it.

How the check behaves

  • The control is form-specific and defaults to no (disabled).
  • When enabled, the submission handler checks for the hidden field named dragwyb_h_email.
  • If that field has a non-empty value, the submission is rejected with a spam-detected validation error.
  • The check is not a replacement for CAPTCHA or other layered anti-abuse controls.

Check your form

After saving, submit the form normally with valid values and confirm the expected success action runs. If legitimate submissions are rejected, inspect custom scripts, browser extensions, caching, and integrations that might modify hidden form inputs. The plugin source confirms the honeypot validation logic, but this guide does not claim that a live form was tested.
