Create a Workflow Connection

Set up a connection for an external service or provider.

A workflow connection stores credentials for actions that use the Connections manager. The current interface supports API Key, Username & Password, Bearer Token, and OAuth 2 authentication types. The Integration field is a short identifier, not a service picker, so use a consistent slug that matches the action you intend to configure.

Create a connection

  • In WordPress, open Agent Workflows → Connections.
  • Click Add New.
  • Enter an Integration identifier and a recognizable Label.
  • Choose an Authentication type, then click Continue.
  • Complete the fields shown for that authentication type. Required credential fields must be supplied before a connection can be saved.
  • Click the form’s save button to create the connection. Review the status shown in the Connections list.

    Choose an authentication type

  • API Key: Enter the API Key field. This is a secret credential.
  • Username & Password: Enter Username and Password.
  • Bearer Token: Enter the Bearer Token field.
  • OAuth 2: Enter Client ID and Client Secret. The form also shows the Callback URL. Google Sheets uses this type: enable the Google Sheets API and Google Drive API in the Google Cloud project, register the exact callback URL as an authorized redirect URI, save the connection, then edit it and click Connect with Google.
  • The plugin encrypts stored credential values at rest and does not show full secret values after saving. For connections whose integration identifier is recognized by the built-in verifier, credential verification runs during creation. Unknown integration identifiers are not automatically verified and may remain pending; this is not a universal test-connection feature.

Use the connection in a workflow

Open a workflow in the visual editor and select the connection field in an action that supports it. Choose the saved connection from the picker. The connection list does not make every authentication type compatible with every action; follow the requirements in the relevant integration guide.
