Arrange Workflow Nodes

Organize workflow nodes so the execution path is easy to follow.

Arrange nodes so the workflow is easy to read, then connect them to define how data and execution move between steps. A node’s position on the canvas does not replace its connections.

Move nodes on the canvas

  1. Open the workflow in the Workflow Editor.
  2. Drag a node to the position where you want it.
  3. If using the keyboard, focus a node and use the arrow keys to move it in small steps. Hold Shift with an arrow key to move it in larger steps.
  4. Keep related steps and branches visually grouped so the workflow is easier to review.

Connect workflow steps

  1. Start a connection from a node’s output port.
  2. Drag the connection to the input port of the next node and release when the target is valid.
  3. For a condition or router, connect the relevant branch to the intended next step.
  4. Review the connections to confirm that each path follows the logic you want.

The editor prevents some invalid connections, such as connecting a node to itself or using another trigger as a destination. If a connection is rejected, choose a valid target or review the workflow structure.

Insert a step between connected nodes

When you need to add a step to an existing path, select the connection and use Add a step between these nodes. Choose the node in the picker. Review the resulting path before saving.

After arranging the canvas, see Map Trigger Data into Later Steps to configure values, then Test a Workflow Before Activating It.
