Test a Workflow Before Activating It

Validate connections and outputs with a controlled test event.

Test a workflow before activating it to check the trigger data, node configuration, connections, and execution results. Use safe sample data and review any actions that could affect real users or external services.

Capture a new trigger sample

  1. Open the workflow in the Workflow Editor and confirm that a trigger node is configured.
  2. Click Test Flow → Listen new response. The editor saves the workflow and starts listening for the next trigger response.
  3. Send a safe test event through that trigger.
  4. Wait for the editor to report that the sample was captured. If listening times out, fire the trigger and try again.

Run the workflow with saved data

  1. Click Test Flow → Use existing data.
  2. The editor checks that saved sample data is available for the current trigger, then runs the workflow with that data.
  3. Review the status message. If there is no matching sample, use Listen new response first.
  4. Open Agent Workflows → Runs and select the run to inspect its status and node log.
  5. In the run details, review each node’s status, duration, message, and available input or output details.

Check the result before activation

  • Confirm that the trigger captured the expected fields.
  • Check that each required node completed and that the intended branches ran.
  • Review failed or skipped nodes and correct missing credentials, invalid configuration, or data mappings.
  • Make sure email recipients, webhook URLs, and other external actions are safe for a test run. Testing can execute the configured workflow actions.
  • Click Save after making changes. Click Activate only when the workflow behaves as expected.
