Configure Form Submission Actions

Choose Smart Form Builder’s after-submission actions for confirmation messages, entry storage, email, redirects, and error logging.

Use the Submission toolbar to decide what Smart Form Builder by Dragwyb should do after a visitor submits a form. Actions are configured per form, so review this section for each form with a different confirmation, storage, or notification requirement.

Open Data Handling

  1. Go to Smart Forms → Forms and open the form you want to configure in the editor.
  2. Open the Submission toolbar.
  3. In Data Handling, find After Submissions Actions.
  4. Select the actions required by this form, then configure the settings shown for each selected action.
  5. Click Save in the editor header. Submit a test form to verify the configured behavior.

Understand the available actions

The After Submissions Actions control is a multi-select field. The default selection is Success Message and Save Entry; other actions are available when the form needs them.

  • Success Message: show a confirmation after successful processing. Its settings include Message Position (Form Bottom, In Form Place, or Modal Popup), Title, Icon, Message, Background Color, and Text Color.
  • Save Entry: store the submitted values in the plugin’s entries database. In its Save Submissions section, keep Save Entry to Database set to Yes to store entries. The control’s source-configured default is Yes.
  • Send Admin Email: send a notification to the configured administrator recipient. Set its recipient, subject, and message in the Admin Email Notification section. See Configure Form Email Notifications.
  • Send User Email: send a confirmation to an email address supplied by the visitor or otherwise configured for the form. Configure it in the User Confirmation Email section; a valid recipient is required.
  • Redirect: return a redirect destination after submission. Enter the destination in Redirect URL under Redirect After Submit. The URL control is required when this action is configured.
  • Error Message: configure the fallback error presentation. Available controls include Message Position, Title, Icon, Message, Background Color, and Text Color. The configured default message is “Something went wrong. Please try again.”
  • Error Logs: enable or disable validation-failure logging using Enable Error Logging. Its source-configured default is Yes. When selected and an error is recorded, the log can be reviewed under Smart Forms → Error Log.

Choose a practical action set

  • Basic contact form: keep Success Message and Save Entry if you want a confirmation and a stored copy of each submission.
  • Lead or enquiry form: add Send Admin Email so the responsible person receives a notification. Configure the recipient and content in the email action settings.
  • Visitor confirmation: add Send User Email and configure a valid visitor email field as its recipient.
  • Thank-you page: select Redirect and provide the destination URL instead of relying only on an on-form confirmation.
  • Validation diagnostics: select Error Logs when administrators need a record of validation failures. Logging is separate from saving successful entries.

Test the configured behavior

  • Submit valid test data and confirm the expected message, redirect, entry storage, and email actions.
  • Check Smart Forms → Entries if Save Entry to Database is enabled. See Review Form Entries.
  • Use an invalid test value where appropriate to check the form’s validation response and any selected error logging.
  • For email-specific settings, recipient limitations, and message placeholders, follow Configure Form Email Notifications. For transport configuration, see Configure SMTP Delivery.
