This section explains what Smart Form Builder by Dragwyb does after a visitor submits a form: display a confirmation, save an entry, send email, redirect the visitor, and help administrators review or export stored submissions. It also covers the plugin’s built-in SMTP settings for sending email through a mail provider.
Choose the guide for your task
- Configure Form Submission Actions — choose which actions run after a valid submission and configure confirmation, saving, redirect, and error logging behavior.
- Review Form Entries — find stored submissions, filter by form, search the data, open an entry, or make an allowed edit.
- Export Form Entries — export entries in Excel (.xls), CSV, JSON, or XML format, with important limitations to check before relying on an export.
- Configure Form Email Notifications — configure administrator notifications and visitor confirmation emails, including recipients, subject lines, and message content.
- Configure SMTP Delivery — set up a mail server, save SMTP credentials, and send a test message.
Understand the submission workflow
Open the form editor and use the Submission toolbar. In its Data Handling section, the After Submissions Actions control determines which actions are selected for the form. The source-configured default selection includes Success Message and Save Entry.
- Visitor response: show a success message or redirect the visitor to a URL.
- Entry storage: select Save Entry and leave Save Entry to Database enabled if the form’s submissions should appear in the Entries screen.
- Email: select Send Admin Email, Send User Email, or both when the form should send notifications. SMTP is configured separately in plugin settings.
- Error handling: Error Logs can record validation failures when that action is selected and error logging is enabled.
Before collecting real submissions
- Submit a test form and confirm the intended success message, redirect, or email behavior.
- Open Smart Forms → Entries and confirm an entry is stored if entry saving is enabled.
- Check who receives email notifications and whether the message includes only the information those recipients should receive.
- Review Configure Form Privacy Settings before collecting personal information, and store downloaded exports securely.
- If a notification does not arrive, follow Why are form submissions not sending email? after checking the notification and SMTP settings.
Where these settings apply
Submission actions are configured per form. SMTP options are plugin-wide settings under Smart Forms → Settings → SMTP. Enabling Apply to all site emails extends the configured SMTP transport to other WordPress emails; when that option is off, Smart Form Builder emails can still use the configured SMTP server.
