Configure WhatsApp

Configure the WhatsApp number, optional popup greeting, and supported {title} and {url} tags in Dragwyb Click to Chat.

Dragwyb Click to Chat uses the WhatsApp channel to create a contact link from the number you configure. You can optionally show a chat popup with a default greeting and use the {title} and {url} tags to include context about the page the visitor is viewing.

Configure the WhatsApp channel

  1. Open Dashboard → Click to Chat → Settings → 1. General.
  2. In the Social Channels Widget module, select Configure Channels & Layout.
  3. Under Choose Your Channels, enable WhatsApp.
  4. In Channel Configuration, enter the destination number in the WhatsApp Number field. Use the intended international number format and avoid spaces or punctuation that could alter the generated destination.
  5. To open a popup rather than redirecting immediately, enable Enable Channel Chat Popup Widget for WhatsApp and edit the Default Greeting Message.
  6. Select Save Settings.

Add page context to the greeting

In the WhatsApp default message, you can include these supported tags:

  • {title} — replaced with the current page title.
  • {url} — replaced with the current page URL.

For example, a greeting such as “Hi, I have a question about {title}: {url}” can give the receiving team context about the page the visitor was viewing. Avoid adding private or sensitive information to a prefilled message.

Test the WhatsApp link

Open a page where the widget should appear and select WhatsApp. Verify that the generated destination contains the intended number and, if configured, the expected message. Test on desktop and mobile because WhatsApp may open a browser-based or device app flow depending on the visitor’s environment.
