Knowledge retrieval works best when the right source material is indexed and visitor questions closely match that material. Use the following checks when Dragwyb Click to Chat returns an irrelevant answer, misses a known fact, or does not show an expected source.
1. Check source coverage
- Open Click to Chat → AI Assistant → Knowledge Base → Knowledge Sources and confirm the relevant text, URL, or training document is present.
- In Database & Indexing, check that the required public WordPress content types are selected.
- Save changed settings and run Index Content Now when you have added sources or changed the content selection.
- Wait for any queued indexing and embedding work to finish before testing again.
2. Test with a known answer
Choose a source page that contains a clear answer. Ask a direct question using the same terminology as the source, then compare the response with the original content. If the answer is absent from the source or spread across unclear pages, improve the source content before changing retrieval settings.
3. Tune the evidence threshold
In Database & Indexing, the Minimum Evidence Confidence Threshold offers three choices:
- Strict (0.75): filters more aggressively for stronger similarity matches; it may omit useful results that score lower.
- Balanced (0.65): the interface’s recommended starting point for most websites.
- Permissive (0.50): accepts looser matches, which can add relevant material but may also admit less useful context.
Change one setting at a time and repeat the same test questions so you can compare results. A similarity threshold helps filter weak matches but is not a guarantee of factual accuracy.
4. Decide how to handle missing evidence
The Require Indexed Data option can require indexed context before the assistant answers. You can also edit the no-data fallback message shown when suitable context is unavailable. Choose a fallback that tells visitors the knowledge base could not find enough information, rather than promising that every question will be answered.
5. Review source links and provider setup
If the chatbot is configured to show sources, check the links included with supported AI replies and open them to confirm that they point to relevant material. If no useful results appear, verify the selected embedding provider and its API key, then check indexing status and available error information.
